L.A. L.A. DESIGNER'S AND PERFORMERS GET SPELLBOUND FOR A CAUSE.
On Saturday, June 23rd, fashion takes a magical approach to style with
it's premiere of SPELLBOUND 2001, a fashion extravaganza featuring 12
individual clothing lines from Los Angeles designers and an eclectic
gathering of creative performers. The show will benefit the Los Angeles
County Animal Shelter's S.A.V.E. Animal Adoption Program- a program that
finds families for animals without homes.
"This is not a traditional fashion show," said Spellbound's artistic
director Roger Fojas, "It's a full length theatrical production. We're
taking the show's theme and allowing the viewer to take a trip through our
magical world, stopping by the land of each designer along the way." And
what better way to see this world than through a show that offers such live
performances as spoken word, belly dance, tribal drumming, classical violin,
swing dance, performance art, theater, and of course- beautiful models along
the runway. "It's an exciting presentation of our city's diversity."
The diversity of the show is also represented in it's multi-talented and
multi-ethnic designers, models, and performers, offering a gathering that
is unique and refreshing from L.A.'s tainted past history of ethnic tensions
(as represented in the media). The designers alone cross-cultural borders of
Filipino, Japanese, Mexican, Korean, Swiss, German, Arabic, and American
Indian decent.
